Join us for the next event in our “Not Black History Month” series, the official launch of Liverpool, Slavery and The Church, a powerful new work that examines the complex connections between Liverpool’s religious institutions and the city’s involvement in the transatlantic slave trade.
The evening will include a 45-minute presentation by the authors, Laurence Westgaph and Crispin Pailing, followed by audience discussion and a book signing. This important new study reveals how faith, commerce and enslavement intertwined in shaping both Liverpool’s past and its present identity.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the night. Admission is free, but spaces are limited, please register early to guarantee a place.
